From what I’ve seen, the game seems right on track to prove an epic retro throwback, capturing that indescribable Disney magic that has been missing from the industry for far too long. After spending some time with both Power of Illusion and Epic Mickey 2, I have to say I’m honestly more excited for the former. The fact that you go between these worlds and the castle itself with almost no warning serves as a reminder that everything you see is an illusion - a magical (if not somewhat evil) illusion that lends the game a supremely cool motif. The sprite-based graphics are quite detailed and beautifully capture the characters and worlds of the Disney universe - from Tangled to Beauty and the Beast to DuckTales and more. During my demo I jumped my way through the skies of Peter Pan’s London, the Neverland jungles and Captain Hook’s ship. The game’s visual presentation is also quite delightful. This, paired with the fact that you have to keep an eye on your paint and thinner level, adds a great new layer to this retro throwback, and is a truly unique re-purposing of Epic Mickey’s trademark mechanic. If you're sloppy with your drawing, the cannon could actually do more harm than good. Alternately, you can trace in a cannon to defeat enemies with - but beware, because each of your paint jobs receives a grade. While the action unfolds on the top screen, if you keep watch over the bottom screen you’ll find areas where you can use your paintbrush to affect the world. Offering a mix of classic side-scrolling mechanics - ample platforming, jumping on enemies to defeat them, frequent money drops and the like - Power of Illusion freshens up this old school experience by adding a dash of Epic Mickey flavoring. Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI Morey, 1991) and particularly the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory2 Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF Ben. That sneaky hag has trapped these poor folks in her Castle of Illusion - making for an exceptional excuse to bring together so many different movie franchises into one, retro-styled adventure. A follow-up to the long lost Genesis classic, Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse, the game follows the mouse’s attempt to save Minnie and numerous other Disney characters from the clutches of the evil witch Mizrabel. While some may mistake this forthcoming 3DS adventure as simply a haphazard portable version of Epic Mickey 2, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Leave it to Disney to prove that an old formula still has legs.
